Week 2!

Dear parents,

Week 2! This week we said goodbye to one of our friends. He came back one last time to have some cake and soda with the class! We will miss him dearly and wish him the best of luck!

Inquiry (Social Studies, Science): We finished up the tuning stage for our projects and moved on to find out more about how the human body works and is connected to how we express ourselves. Our chicken bone project is still in the process and the smell was so strong we had to place it outside of our classroom!

Writing: This week students had their first spelling and vocabulary quizzes of the term! We will start writing our words on notecards and also study our misspelled words and incorrect definitions. We also started putting together a list of our challenge words (words we have found in our class novels) that we will post on the blog so students can learn about the meanings at home!

Reading: We decided to go for another novel this term in connection with our newspaper projects in inquiry/social studies unit. We will have the digital copies on our school kindle fires!

Math: This week we focused on graphs. It was a bit tricky at first, but students understood the concept by the end of the week. We went over pictographs, bar graphs, and tally charts.

Next week: It's literacy week! Drama contests, Spelling Bee Competitions, and Literacy Day!

Have a great weekend!
